Abbas supports using "all means"
to free terrorists in Israeli prisons
by Itamar Marcus and Nan Jacques Zilberdik
PA Chairman Mahmoud Abbas:
"We will definitely, always and forever,
act to free [our prisoners] using all means."
Palestinian Authority Chairman Mahmoud Abbas says that the PA will continue to use "all means" to release all Palestinian prisoners remaining in Israeli prisons.
His statement in Arabic (http://www.palwatch.org/main.aspx?fi=202&fld_id=406&doc_id=1356), in response to the release of 20 Palestinian prisoners in exchange for a video proving that Israeli hostage Gilad Shalit is alive, counters his statements to Western leaders that outstanding issues with Israel will be resolved through negotiations, not violence.
11,000 terrorists are currently in Israeli prisons for terrorism-related offenses of various degrees. The PA has demanded that Israel release all of them, including mass murderers and planners of suicide terror who are serving multiple life sentences.
In the past, Abbas has emphasized his identification with imprisoned terrorists. In a February 2005 interview, he stressed that during the Terror War (Intifada), he was personally responsible for sending today's imprisoned terrorists on their missions against Israelis. He euphemistically used the word "resistance" for the terror missions he directed:
"I sent my son, brother or others to carry out the duty of the resistance."
Earlier in the interview he emphasized that the terrorists did what "we, we, [the PA] ordered them to do."
In the five-year terror war orchestrated by Arafat and Abbas, which was based primarily on suicide terror against civilians in buses and restaurants, more than 1,000 Israelis were murdered.
In a different interview, Abbas sent "greetings of honor and esteem" to Palestinian terrorist murderers, as he singled out some of the most notorious killers.

Following is the transcript of Abbas acknowledging responsibility for terrorists:
"I demand [the release] of prisoners because they are human beings, who did what we, we, ordered them to do. We, the [Palestinian] Authority.
They should not be punished while we sit at one table negotiating...
This is war. One (Israel) ordered a soldier to kill and I ordered my son, brother, or others, to carry out the duty of resistance (euphemism for terror).
This person killed and the other person killed.
So why say this person's hands are stained with blood, and must be kept in prison."

Following is the transcript of Abbas honoring terrorist murderers:
"I send greetings of honor and esteem to all prisoners in the occupation's jails. First of all to the veterans, and to chief prisoner Sa'id 'Ataba [life sentence for murder in terror attack.] And to the [imprisoned] political leaders: Marwan Barghouthi [five life sentences for murder in terror attacks,] Ahmad Sa'adat [life sentence for murdering Israeli Minister of Tourism, Rehavam Zeevi] 'Aziz Duick, chairman of the Palestinian Parliament, Hamas] Jamal Huweil [life sentence for planning terror attacks], Jamal Tirawi [life sentence for murder in a café suicide attack]: Greetings to you from our people."

To: President Barack Obama
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu
Vice-President Joseph Biden
Secretary of State Hillary Clinton
as well as other distinguished elected officials
President Obama,
As you are a progressive President willing to learn from the mistakes of the past, we urge you to immediately pull US General Dayton's continued top-level US military training of Fatah militia in PA-controlled Ramallah. Our ongoing training of Fatah militia is harmful to stability and any meaningful peace in the region and must be stopped at once.
Scores of suicide bombings and shootings upon Israeli civilians have been perpetrated by Fatah members and other groups. Simply put, recipients of US General Dayton's top-level military training of Fatah militants openly admit they have been involved in terrorist attacks against Israeli civilians. Murdering Israelis is not a good way to spend US taxpayer dollars!
In an interview with seven of the Palestinian militia members under Dayton, one Fatah soldier makes it clear: "All the trainings we received from Dayton and company will not affect our loyalty to our people and the resistance," said a former leader of the Al Aqsa Martyrs Brigade. "We are Palestinian patriots. What we received from Dayton, we will use (on Israel or other nations) when the day comes for a confrontation."
Already, basic U.S. training provided during the 1990s helped kill Israelis, by an admission of Abu Yousuf, a senior officer of Abbas' Force 17 Presidential Guard unit in Ramallah.
"I do not think that the operations of the Palestinian resistance would have been so successful and would have killed more than 1,000 Israelis since 2000 and defeated the Israelis in Gaza without these [American] trainings," said Yousuf. "All the methods and techniques that we studied in these trainings, we applied them against the Israelis," he said.
"We sniped at Israeli settlers and soldiers. We broke into settlements and Israeli army bases and posts. We collected information on the movements of soldiers and settlers. We collected information about the best timing to infiltrate our bombers inside Israel. We used weapons and we produced explosives, and of course the trainings we received from the Americans and the Europeans were a great help to the resistance."
And don't forget, Mr. President, that Arafat's Fatah terrorist organization brought us Black September in 1970 with their attempted takeover of the government of Jordan. They did not then require US training to kill a reported 25,000 Jordanians. Is it any wonder that the Arab world wants Israel to absorb the Palestinians, while Jordan and all other Arab countries deny them citizenship?
Mr. President, training Fatah is unacceptable. Please end General Dayton's training of terrorists and pull any other US-trained military. Our tax dollars can be much better spent here at home than in the training of militant Islamists who openly call for attacks upon both America and Israel.

Abbas Conference Shows PA Has No Interest In Peace
Morton A. Klein
ZOA, September 11, 2009
Fatah, the ruling party in the Palestinian Authority (PA) headed by Fatah co-founder, Mahmoud Abbas, has held in Bethlehem it's first congress in twenty years. What has emerged? - An adamant refusal to accept Israel's existence as a Jewish state; glorification of terrorists and the "armed struggle," insistence on the so-called "right of return," and rejection of an end of claims in any future peace agreement.
When former PA prime minister Ahmed Qureia opened proceedings, he did so "in the name of shahids (martyrs, i.e. dead terrorists)" - not exactly the words of a peace partner who has accepted Israel and renounced terrorism and incitement to hatred and murder.
But this should not surprise. Fatah has never formally recognized Israel. It has never revised its Constitution, which calls for the destruction of Israel (Article 12) and the use of terrorism as an indispensable element in the struggle to achieve that goal (Article 19). Indeed, Abbas has often stated that Fatah does not accept Israel, as in April when he declared, "I say this clearly: I do not accept the Jewish State, call it what you will."
That is why Abbas has now told the conference that "we maintain the right to launch an armed resistance, which is legitimate as far as international law is concerned." Most statements by other Fatah leaders reflect these views...

Jewish Purchases in Jerusalem Have PA Concerned
by Hillel Fendel Jewish Land Buys Bother Abbas
Jewish efforts and successes in spurring on the historic process of the national return to Jerusalem have the Palestinian Authority concerned.
Speaking on Yemenite Television this week, Palestinian Authority chairman Mahmoud Abbas said that while Israel and “world Zionism” act every day to “Judaize” the city, Arab efforts to make the city Arab are “paltry.” Long known by his nom de guerre Abu Mazen, Abbas provided financing for the terrorist attack that killed 11 Israeli athletes at the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich, Germany.
Though he compared the current Arab efforts with the “billions” that Jews are spending on behalf of the Holy City, Abbas also hinted that Arabs are not doing enough militarily for Jerusalem.
“The Palestinians are working and are getting killed,” he said. “The second intifada erupted because of [former Prime Minister Arie Sharon’s visit to [the Temple Moun and the desecration of the mosque, and it lasted seven years. This time, therefore, the matter of Jerusalem requires a much greater effort, something much more practical. It’s not enough to talk about Jerusalem in books, nor to give sermons in mosques; there is a need to work for her.”
In fact, Jews from throughout the world are taking part in keeping Jerusalem safe for the Jewish People and Israel. The Ohr Sameach yeshiva, for instance, is planning a new campus in Nachalat Shimon, a newly renewed Jewish neighborhood just northeast of the famous Me’ah She’arim quarter. Efforts – usually expensive ones - are constantly underway not only to develop, renovate, and zone properties in the neighborhood, but mainly to eject illegal Arab squatters who live there.
Slightly to the south, in Musrara (Morashah), just outside Damascus Gate, similar efforts are underway. Four Jewish families currently live there, and if the efforts are successful, more will soon be on their way.
The Jerusalem Capital Development Foundation, actively and financially dedicated to reclaiming and strengthening the Jewish presence in historic Jerusalem, is among the organizations that, inter alia, conducts tours around eastern Jerusalem. The tours feature the various Jewish projects in the area, as well as explanations of the issues at hand – with an emphasis on the dangers of another division of Jerusalem.
Yeshivat Beit Orot, Jerusalem’s first hesder yeshiva, also conducts tours of the in-the-news areas of the Holy City. Beit Orot, located in a critically strategic area between Mt. of Olives and Mt. Scopus, is also at the forefront of the pioneering development efforts in historic Jerusalem.
The Ateret Cohanim Association, which already owns 20 properties in what is known as the Moslem Quarter of the Old City, has operative plans to purchase six more. Some 900 Jews currently live in the Old City – not including the Jewish Quarter – and the purchase of these properties will increase the number to 1,000.

Abbas' Palestinians will cash in on Jerusalem unrest in talks with Mitchell
DEBKAfile Special Report
07 Oct. Israeli security forces are on special alert for unrest centering on Muslim Friday prayers on Oct. 9.
The arrest Tuesday night, Oct. 6, of the Israeli Islamic leader Raed Salah on charges of inciting the four-day Muslim rampage on Temple Mount - and sedition - was a point up for his partners, the Palestinian Hamas. The pose Salah struck of a Muslim hero defending al Aqsa mosque (against a fabricated assault) rallied Islamist support. Mahmoud Abbas' Fatah-led Palestinian Authority in Ramallah caught up with the Hamas-backed campaign Tuesday. Its spokesmen loosed a torrent of abuse accusing Israel of igniting the Palestinian unrest which swept out from Temple Mount to Jerusalem's suburbs and hauling out their old war cry: "The Jews are plotting to tear down al Aqsa and rebuild their temple!"
Abbas has taken a ton of flak for consenting to the postponement of a UN Security Council debate on the Goldstone war crimes report on the Gaza conflict. He hopes to put things right when he talks to US Middle East George Mitchell over the coming week-end by accusing Israel of failing to protect free Muslim worship at al Aqsa and demanding that Temple Mount at the heart of the city be declared an exclusive Muslim site off-limits to Jews.
